Edwardsville, the 3rd oldest city in Illinois, is home to the Southern Illinois University Cougars, along with the Edwardsville Arts Center, Watershed Nature Wildlife Preserve, and Ninian Edwards, the 3rd governor of Illinois. While Edwardsville is a quiet town listed on the National Register of Historic Places, it is also full of life. It is located less than 30 miles from downtown St. Louis and just minutes from the well-known Fast Eddie’s Bon-Air and Argosy Casino in its neighboring city, Alton. It is also home of the Wildey Theatre, a popular center for performing arts, entertainment and movies.
