The Great Forest Park Balloon Race

The Great Forest Park Balloon Race is one of the biggest events in St. Louis each year.  It all begins with the Balloon Glow where you can get an upclose look at dozens of hot air balloons lit by their burners at night.  Then crowds return to Forest Park the following day for the big race.  This year, 70 balloons will launch from Central Field and chase the Energizer Bunny Balloon in the skies over St. Louis.  The race is the highlight of the day, but it’s really just part of the fun!  There’s also a food court, children’s activity area and other entertainment.

Location:  Central Field in Forest Park

Time:  Balloon Glow is Friday, September 16th from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.  The actual balloon race is slated for Saturday, September 17th, at 4:30 p.m., but pre-race activities begin at noon.  If it’s raining on Saturday, the race will be held on Sunday, September 18th.

This looks amazing!  I need to check it out!  Anyone been to this before that can share tips or secrets for the best show?

The balloons are extremly bright with colors. My favorite activity is to drive my kids around so we can follow the Energizer Bunny and the other ballons! Last year the Energizer Bunny wasn’t fully operational, but this year I CAN’T WAIT!

OMG……the picture is awesome.  I missed it this year but I will look forward to taking my grandson next year when he can really enjoy it.  Looks like a lot of fun.
