New Years Resolutions

Every year I have these amazing ideas for a New Years resolution like losing 30 pounds or not drinking Diet Coke. Of course I never follow through with them because they are a little unrealistic. So this year I decided to go for something more practical and time saving that I could actually accomplish. I am going to organize my house room by room. Sounds like a big challenge I know, but once it is complete it is going to be time saving. The hard part is going to be training my daughter and husband to use it.

I am completely addicted to Pinterest so I am going start there for some organizing ideas. I am going to start in the kitchen. I need to mention that I live in a small house with a very small kitchen and hardly any storage space. My other dilemma is that I don’t want to spend a lot of money on storage items so I am going to try and use what I have at home.

Now that I have the gears going on some organizing ideas I am going to hit the pantry.

Step 1: Take everything out (I did not realize I had so much stuff)

Step 2: Wipe down the shelves

Step 3: Throw out expired items

Step 4: Categorize the pantry items (vinegars, snacks, baking items, etc…)

Step 4: Bring out the label maker (mine broke so I used Post-It labels)

Step 5: Combine like items together and put them in a container

Step 6: Show my husband how to keep things organized

I did purchase an over the door storage unit from the Container Store costing around $75.00, but it is was money well spent in my opinion.

Now that my pantry is completely organized and functions smoothly I will move on to the next project. This is a good way to start the new year and help me in the morning with getting lunches together. I am finally accomplishing my New Years resolution, and I hope you stick with yours.

I don’t have a pantry but if I did, I would certainly hire you to organize it. Umm…I do need tips on organizing paperwork, receipts, bills etc, just a thought for a future post…
